# Manage documents and data in TextMine

> Learn how to import, organize, extract, validate, publish, report on, curate, and structure document-backed information in TextMine.

Use this section when your TextMine work starts with documents or needs to become structured data. Vault is the main place to import, classify, extract, search, validate, and report on documents. Knowledge Bases help teams curate shared source libraries and ask grounded questions across them.

## How do I manage documents in TextMine?

Start with [Vault overview](/vault/overview) to understand document storage, folders, document types, extraction, Ask Vault, and reports. Use [Tags and extraction](/vault/tags-and-extraction) when you need default tags, custom tags, chained tags, entity tags, image tags, or table extraction.

## How do I build a shared source library?

Use [Knowledge Bases overview](/knowledge-bases/overview) when a team needs a reusable collection of uploaded files, Vault documents, Legislate documents, or business records. Knowledge Bases support folders, member access, source profiles, reusable tags, feedback fields, grounded Q\&A, generated artifacts, and reports.

## How do I turn document evidence into business data?

Use [Records overview](/records/overview) when answers need to become structured, reviewable business records. Use [Schemas and review candidates](/records/schemas-and-candidates) to define record fields and review proposed updates.

## When should I use related document tools?

Use [Legislate overview](/legislate/overview) for validated team-document views, [Scribe overview](/scribe/overview) for smart templates, and [Reports and exports](/reports-and-exports/overview) for shareable evidence-backed outputs.
