How Legislate relates to Vault
Vault is where documents are uploaded, imported, processed, classified, tagged, reviewed, reprocessed, and analyzed. Once a document or its extracted data is validated, it can be published from Vault to Legislate. Legislate is where published team documents can be listed, searched, and reviewed as validated archive data. Workbench treats Legislate/team-document inventory as a separate read target from active Vault documents.Publication lifecycle
A common lifecycle is:- Import or upload the source document into Vault.
- Assign or confirm the document type.
- Process the document and extract tags, tables, entities, or image-based evidence.
- Review and validate extracted values in the Vault editor.
- Run any required playbooks, approvals, reports, or workflows.
- Publish the validated document from Vault to Legislate.
- Use Legislate for archive search, team document review, and comparison with future Vault activity.
When to use Legislate
Use Legislate when the task is about:- Published team documents.
- Validated archive data.
- Documents already sent from Vault to Legislate.
- Comparing published archive content with active Vault content.
- Workflows that publish documents or respond to publication events.
When to use Vault instead
Use Vault when the task is about:- Document upload or provider import.
- Processing or reprocessing.
- Document types and extraction settings.
- Default tags, custom tags, chained tags, entity tags, image tags, tables, and embedded image detection.
- Ask Vault and reports over active document sets.
- Human validation in the Vault editor.
